The more I play this game, the more I think the level 2 bots are harder than the level 3s. The level 2 bots play to win. The level 3 bots play to make you lose and as soon as you figure that out, it's easy to manipulate it. They also focus waaaaay too much on boats and mines at the expense of other things. Actually saw one turn a 6 into a 5 (expending a worker) to take a mine because I had a five instead of taking the mine on the six. It's sad really. The game, otherwise, is beautifully done.

This app is just what I was looking for. I love the board game but don't get to play often enough. The presentation is great, I don't think the graphics are a distraction. I love that you can double tap any tile to find out what it does, this is a huge step up over flipping through the manual. I haven't tried online yet, but offline is great so far. Minus one star for being a battery hog. About 30% an hour on my new Pixel 2. Hopefully something they'll look into for the next update.

Castles of Burgundy is an excellent port of the tabletop. However, the replay value of the app is hindered by AI opponents with super human abilities and dice randomization that takes into account game status when playing. The AI opponent levels differ in terms of what they buy and not how they play. The dice randomizer will negatively affect you if you are in the lead. The randomizer also appears to look at your board when deciding its outcome. The dice randomizer needs to be 100% random.

Great implementation with one minor reoccurring bug. When switching to see opponent's board, switch back and your turn is glitched. You only need to return to the menu and then reload the game to fix, otherwise, 5 stars. Also, rules are not fully explained well in the tutorial, so having a base understanding before 0laying helps a lot.

ok, it's not terrible or unplayable, but there are some major problems. it is way too slow with all the loading times. COB works great for asynchronous play but if you revisit the app after 30 minutes to play your turn we're met with awful loading screens that can take 10-20 seconds and THEN you have to slog through all the animations on opponent turns. changing to the fastest speed doesn't hardly help, we need instantaneous speeds especially for when playing on the go.
