5* SO FAR! Just now downloaded this app because of the March 16, 2022 Honshu, Japan tsunami threat. I want to see if buoys were being tossed about so I would know if I should be watchful here on the Oregon Coast. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the buoy I tapped on says there is currently no reading. So either that buoy's reading are out of service or there is truly no threat. But I figure, every little bit helps. So I think Im really liking this app so far. I will update if it is problematic.

Thank you for trying the app and the review! One word of caution though, due to the nature of Tsunami waves (small height in deep ocean, only get big in shallow water), using the wave height reported from buoys is not a good indicator of tsunami threat. For tsunami threats, a great source of info is official NOAA web page at "https://Tsunami.Gov".

Seems more intermittent with less information than before. Big push for subscriptions.

Hello. No data has changed from “free” to requiring an upgrade. However, we did have a “surprise” infrastructure change last week that required all users to *update* their apps (not upgrade! not pay!) to continue receiving buoy data. The app can be updated via the Google Play store. Buoy reports in the app are free, and will always be so.

We’re sorry the app didn’t meet your expectations. To clarify, the raw data for buoy and ship observations is from NDBC, part of NOAA. The app doesn't include weather reports and doesn't to. It focuses on buoy and ship reports, with a few bonuses thrown in. The app is free to try, so anyone can easily check it out to see if it fits their needs.

About 30% of the buoys have instrumentation on them to record wave data, and many of those only do so intermittently. And buoys lead a hard life and sometimes break down. The next update will help indicate which buoys are capable of reporting Wave data. If you (or anyone) have questions, please contact us via the App or at
