The problem I was having was when I used Bluetooth to my headset while I was walking the dogs. If I turned off the screen, it would shortly cause my radio app to sleep. And if I didn't turn off the screen the touch screen would engage in all kinds of mayhem bouncing around in my pocket. And use more battery than necessary. Blackr also goes to a black screen with just a clock and the battery charge being displayed which saves battery use. It is perfect for my needs.

Sure, it's a niche app with really specific functionality. But if you're someone who needs that functionality for whatever reason (iykyk), Blackr does it well (or at least—if you are bravely trying to use the app on an LCD phone out of desperation—as well as it's going to get without programming your own custom phone OS). It's also well cared for by its Dev, which means nice customization options. It also greatly reduces the options of a future phone update rendering the app useless forevermore.

Love the idea of having the apps running and videos still playing while screen is off, easy to toggle and a sleek button design ! However i wish there was a timer to set the screen to off automatically in the same way (i.e videos still playing) without pressing the button. That would be a nice addon, As i tried other screen timeout apps but they only work when screen is inactive/no video. Thank you for the app ! Edited

I must admit, this app being updated to reenable it's functionality pleasantly surprised me. Few people typically come back to things that are scrapped, so it was a refreshing change of pace, especially since this one of the few apps on the play store that does this. I did notice it works differently with Google apps now, the status bar gets dimmed. Overall, this app performs better than before, and it is really nice to see something get put back in action. Perfect for what I need (recording 4k videos with screen off and no one noticing). Went back from 8.0 to 7.0 just for this app. I found the last working version 4.0 and disabled its auto update. Hate how phone OSs offer less freedom and privacy than computers' OSs, at least for the average user. This custom carrier/manufacturer android nonesense must stop as its annoying, costly and a security risk.
