The main reason I got this app was that it reminded you of things to do to keep your home safe (testing smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, updating emergency kits, etc) But their last update to the app DISCONTINUED that feature. Now it's just a glorified weather event alert system. On top of that it sends me an alert for one event over and over, leaving me with 45 notifications for one thunderstorm. You removed the most useful feature and then made the rest annoying. Uninstalling this app! Edited

A good app from the government? Shocker. In all seriousness it's actually very useful. I like being able to keep updated on the town my family lives in as well as where I am now. I used to use the "Emergency" app from the Red Cross for this purpose. However this app is better because it shows less severe alerts. For example I live in a low lying area so it's good to get flood notifications, even if it's just a watch. Same with high surf warnings. The Red Cross app only shows high level alerts. Edited

Have had this app for a long time, but haven't received any notifications in months even though I have them turned on in my settings. UPDATE 1/9/2024: I am now receiving notifications again, but only because I opened the app. I had the settings changed to where the permissions and notifications would be stopped if the app wasn't in use, so I would check these settings ahead of time if you haven't! I'm hoping this will fix the issue permanently. Edited

After a two years of use: This app consistently gives the fastest weather & hazard alerts; it even beats the local military base. I just have to remember to manually update my location when traveling. Application updates seem to have fewer glitches recently. I have not needed to use any of the FEMA assistance portions of the App (fortunately). Bottom Line: Top notch app for early warnings.

NO ADs, no delays getting timely, pertinent, & accurate information throughout the country. Connection to resources and shelters at your fingertips. Great preparation information to prevent or reduce harm. I recommend this app in-person to everyone (my nephews would think I'm a broken record of they knew what that meant). Very responsive tech team. Rarely do they change the format/GUI, so everything is exactly where you expect it every time, which is critical in a real emergency.
