There are a lot of nice touches to this Choose Your Own Adventure -style book. That said, the actual story in this book is a big step down from the first one. Not only are there lots of typos, but the first third is very rough, and generally it seems a lot more disposable than the 1st book. Unlike that one, which had an epic conclusion but teased a sequel, this one has NO climax. The author basically just saved the final chapters for the sequel. So I can't recommend it on its own.

As much as I try to avoid something that whiffs of a shounen rip off. I enjoyed the first book, with well established backgrounds, a tight cast of diverse and fairly engaging characters, and a pleasant amount of choice. Book 2 is a step back in every sense, trading in an excellent start and last chapter for a mid plot slump of banal comedy, dreary railroaded side plots and forgettable romantic teases. Though the writing remains accomplished and uses lore well enough, Book 3 doesn't bode well following this.

Good continuation of the series, not my favorite book so far but it is definitely not bad. Cliffhanger really did take me by surprise as the author really shook off the expected cliché of a 'boss battle' at the end of every book, I did not see that ending coming and it was a great set up for the even better 3rd book! I really hope that the author adds more into the romantic aspect of the game going forward with book 4 & beyond because that is the only part of the story really lacking! Great game

It seemed a bit shorter than the first book, I ended up finishing it within a day but its still just as good! But then its still a bit pricey, for the first book it was around four dollars. I wish it stayed that way but hey, at least it was worth the six bucks! I highly reccomend this, and cant wait to read the third! Edited

Out of the current 4 instalments I liked the settings of this one the most. It took a turn from blood and katana, but I enjoyed how the writer brought a town of arts to life through his writing and extensive knowledge of Japanese culture. This series really is something you can lose yourself in. Edited
