The app works great, with a few drawbacks. It would be nice to be able to set a secondary server address, I want to use my local IP at home and a VPN IP from everywhere else. The download episode feature doesn't really work well at all. It's better than paying you every streaming service to get the shows I want though.

My favorite open source project. But the app has an aggravating flaw. When using from locations with bad connection, the client will send you back to the server selection screen, even if you've pre-buffered part of the content. To resolve, you need to connect again, and rebuffer the same media. On limited plans, or when paying by the gigabyte, it can become very expensive to use the app in areas with spotty coverage. Also no way to DL lower quality media for offline playback in similar scenarios Edited

Most functions work great however there is major pain point for the app rather than using a web browser, if there is some disturbance in a connection between the client and your server, it will completely close out of the connection, yet still be playing the music you had loaded. But the controls for the song thats playing is gone when this happens and you must close the app and relaunch it, then go back to your music tab and start a new playlist. The app needs to handle network changes better.

EDIT: Not sure what happened, but after retiring my main service version of Jellyfin, the LXC version works just fine with the app. Great, minimal media streaming client, although one bug that takes me out of it is that it doesn't play nicely with servers hosted on LXC containers. I can connect to and play from those LXC Jellyfin servers just fine from web browsers, so I think it's a bug with the android app somehow. Otherwise this app is great! Edited

Awesome! Works fantastic with a VPN! Prior to Jellyfin, I was unable to cast to my projector. Spent hours attempting to configure and connect. After installing Jellyfin, I was casting within a minute. Plays perfectly with my Xbox or Samsung Tv's. Running the server on a Mac Studio & generally transcode everything as a personal preference. I have utilized direct play, however, T-Mobile home internet is spotty at times and the transcode provides a buffer for that silky smooth playback at 4k.
