I love AVG, but I went from 5 to 3 stars because I lost access to my SD cards upon installation & I haven't received a response from tech support on the matter. Only option I see is to transfer folders and everything to another , encrypt the card try to reinstall data to the SD in the exact order, & hopefully it doesn't happen again I don't like relying on Google for okay and for ads & videos prefer to use my own music & visual art and work a lot for my phone. I have the paid version. It's just as pointlessly aggressive as the PC version. You have to have everything on or you are a bad person. It just complains all the time. VPN is fine but it also limits you access to certain websites at all like ign or Amazon. I had McAfee and it was not as intrusive but useless. It is why I switched. Anyway little explanation on why a scan has issues besides having to turn everything on does not help. None of these products are all good. Edited

I have had a very positive experience with AVG. They alert me immediately when there is any threat to my phone and stop it immediately before any damage can be done. Their apps are easy to use and service affordable, although I have not upgraded to premium level. The only drawback is the amount of advertising premium service but that is tolerable for the good quality service.

UPDATED 09-04-24 Still my favorite protection app and still going strong I even enjoyed the free version but time for a change paying for the full experience soon!!!UPDATE 10-5-2022 still going strong!!! I love this app I have never used any other and I don't see the need to. I've trusted them for years it's on all phones as well as my laptop and desktop!!

false advertisement, I bought a version because the advertisement states that upgrade will fix the issue that I suppose to have, so I bought the upgrade, then I scanned, and then it said that I had some other treats that needed to be fixed, but I needed another version for me to buy. They create those treats for you to keep buying, my phone is still the same, still slow and still shows that my phone is at risk. Edited
