This is hands down the best app I've run into for learning Japanese grammar. The team are so helpful and write great explanatory comments in the discussions, write helpful blog posts, and write stories suited for each reading level. Its engaging and much more fun to learn through reading stories than repeating guidebook phrases and nauseam. That too has its place -- don't get me wrong! But if you want to learn *grammar*, Satori is the way to go.

I love this app, and have been using it for years. The stories are fun and engaging, and the ability to click on words to see their translations, or play the audio of either specific sentences or the entire chapter, are super useful. It also lets you easily create flashcards with spaced repetition reviewing, and some stories have both simple and advanced versions. It gives context and explanation for grammar and word usage in translations. Thank you to all who worked on it! Edited

Fantastic. Almost perfect. Worth subscribing. It makes relatively smooth reading accessible for even lower level readers by allowing you to see the definition for the given context for any word in the stories, as well as providing explanations for many of the relatively complicated structures used in the story. They are very well explained and really help to keep pushing you higher. The only thing that would make this app better would be integration with Anki to be able to send vocab to Anki. Edited

I've only been a subscriber for one day, but this is probably the best app for learning Japanese there is. I've been looking for an app where a story is read to you slowly, and struggled finding one, but stumbled upon this, which comes with so much more than just the story. Definitions, explanations, great voice acting. This tool will likely prove invaluable. Recommendation: get through genki 1 and 2, then subscribe to satori reader. Edit: sub for 6 months now. Perfect app for reading/listening Edited

There is this period of late beginner early intermediate Japanese where entry level stuff is too easy but there is enough confusion around higher level content(specifically grammar and colloquialisms) that is painful to get through. This app has dealt with this perfectly, by having a contextual(!) description for every single character in the stories I found it extremely useful for learning the nitty gritty of actual Japanese writing. One of the few non pure-beginner apps for JP.
