As someone who does botany surveys for work I find this app super helpful. I'm very weary of apps that use photos as the same species of plant can differ in appearance based on location and climate. Using botanical characteristics to narrow down your search makes way more sense. It's worth every penny! I also recommend using the WA app concurrently as it has some species this one doesnt and vice versa.

Thank you so much for your review! We appreciate that it has been a helpful tool for your botanical survey work. I'll pass this onto the rest of the team.

I do not like the strong arm sales technique of "Buy before you try". But as this app came recommended, I went ahead with the purchase while on a hike with LTE service. The app is so big that it warned me not install it unless I was on wifi. So I did that 2 hours later when I returned home. But I immediately realized that the person who recommended it must have had it confused with another app because there is NO ability to use a photo of the plant you are looking at to narrow things down. And 2 hours later was too late for a refund. But in the end I looked through the information in the app and feel there is enough there to justify the $9.00. I tried identifying a couple of wildflowers I know and was not successful using the characteristics to get to them. So I don't think it will be too helpful for actually identifying the plants upfront, but I will look for another app to do that. But once identified some other way, this app will provide a lot of information with the descriptions, range, etc. Edited

Thanks for your feedback on the app. I'm glad you're finding the information valuable. My recommendation is to tap on only what you observe, leaving the rest blank. The data is extremely accurate as it it from the Oregon Flora Project database. To learn about characteristics, you can view Search Characteristics for a plant in its Description tab.

Excellent, off-line, easy to navigate. I do wish you could set defaults, I was in Steens for a month but had to reset the limits every time I opened the app to search. Favorites feature is very useful. Highly recommended

Hi, Thanks or your kind review and feedback! I'm so glad to hear the app was useful for your trip to the Steens. Can you share the defaults you'd like to set (to [email protected])? That would be great. I'm thinking that you'd like to set region and month as defaults while toggling other characteristics.

Great idea but just ok implementation. I spend a lot of time looking at plants while out hiking in NE Oregon and have used this app for years. What needs improvement: 1. many important species are missing (e.g., Lupinus sulphureus). 2. information on species origin (native vs non-native) is lacking except for noxious weeds. (3) search function doesn't work well. App claims to have all data from Oregon Flora project, but this is not true.

Thanks. Nativity is found on the description tab for each plant. The plant list was selected by Oregon Flora based on their list of the 1280 most common flowering species in the state. Unfortunately, L. sulphureous didn't make their cut (will share). Please let us know details of using the search function by emailing [email protected].

Very helpful. Even if it doesn't have your exact species it can give you a good idea on genus or family.
