No matter how many times I banish certain topics (for instance, sports and entertainment), these stories incessantly clutter my feed. Hitting "see less of [x]" clearly does nothing. For that reason, I'll be looking for an alternative to Google News—if it weren't for that glaring failure, the app would be just fine and usable, but as it is, it's more trouble than it's worth.

since the last update 60% of articles in the feed have a blank picture. Scrolling through, its just article titles with gray boxes where the thumbnail (for lack of a better word) picture should be. I also am not pleased with how the categories have been downsized. Seems like more clickbaits and paywalls than before too. I've tried reinstalling, updating, clearing the cache nothing helps. you can save your AI response to this review because I'm not going to submit any feedback besides this.

More and more "teasers" that take you to paywalls. It shouldn't look like an "article" if I can't read it. It should be shown as an ad for the New York Times or whoever. "subscriber only content" or "advertisement for a subscription". This is a news app and we all understand ads in apps. better: "Google recommends these paid subscription services for additional news not available in the free app." interspersed as obvious ads

Not a good app for breaking news. App does not update frequently enough. Stories stay in categories at times for 3 days. Even in the "headlines" category some stories are 48 hours old. No EZ way to dismiss a story after you've read it. Algorithm does include a wide range of sources, but does not seem to consistently aggregate stories from indicated top personal preferences. Too many site selected headlines come from sources with pay windows. Edited

The ads from various news sites have overwhelmed and ruined my ability to enjoy this application. With 75% of my screen space being covered with ads with fake close buttons, I can hardly read any content. There seems to be no effective way to block ads through the app, so I've had to switch to an alternative browser application and navigate to news sites directly. Rendering this app completely useless.
