The lock screen button to search when audio is recognised as music, but not found in the local database, isn't showing up anymore. Album artwork is drawn from YouTube, and can be rather low resolution. Music which you've just sent a request to Google to identify should be indexed locally, but returning to the main activity and waiting for the automatic recognition can take unexpectedly long or fail to match outright. Songs from the same album aren't indexed when you send a network request. Edited

Completely lost 4 years of my music history and favourite tracks with this March 2026 update. Also... pressing on the heart symbol does not save a track as a liked track. REALLY disappointed with this change. I can't see any point in this app anymore. no history... no favorites. And recognising tracks does not work 95% of the time, especially in noisy environments. it did before. Edited

updated to the most recent version of the app, and prompted by the software to use the new version of the app, I agreed... then all of a sudden, all of your identified music history is gone just like that, with no way to revert to the previous version, and having lost all of your history! No disclaimer either. What a shame!! Very upsetting. tread lightly, to anyone updating to the latest version.

AUTOMATED song search without me touching anything used to work before on the lock screen. It used to download a library in the background (the first time) i turned on that feature and worked even offline in some cases. That was so good. This separate app is a lot of manual key pressing and waiting. How is this different from the Google app song search.???? bring back the old app.

Not a good step forward, honestly, for a feature we really liked before. I loved the subtle icon to find the playing song, especially when you're in a pub or restaurant. Now I have to tap an icon to do that; why not use any other third-party app for that? What's so special about "Now Playing" now? Also, strangely enough, with this update, it wiped out my entire Now Playing history as well.
