Someone recommended Sky Map to me and I have been using it for several years now. I Love how easy it is to navigate! I have also found that calibrating seems to be easier and faster when you use a figure 8 motion rather than the 3 individual directions that it tells you to use when the calibration needs to be updated. I also find it useful to identify where the planets are lined up during astronomical events. I find Sky Map to be a very useful tool, day or night! Thank you for keeping it going!

I love this app, but haven't used it in a while. I tried it tonight on an old Samsung S8, and it was giving really bizarre results. Not sure if it's the phone or the app, but the phone accurately places me by GPS, and has the correct time, so I am left thinking that it's the app. If rated on this performance, it would be 1 star, but I hate to downvote it without knowing the app is at fault. My phone is without any case or attachments. A compass app reads correctly. Edited

No matter how much I restart, calibrate, or look for an update, the map is never pointing at the stars, planet, etc, I'm looking at. Please fix this bug. I will keep those things in mind. The problem isn't anything magnetic. I've kept up with calibration, it gets better, but the next time I open it, it's still way off. Edited

Accuracy issues are almost always a problem with the phone. Sky Map is just using the phone's sensors (and reporting to you that the phone *thinks* it's uncalibrated). Often it can be simple things like if you put your phone in a case with a magnetic clasp (it messes with the compass).

considering the situation this app is in (development/developer wise) I really can't complain. It shows me more than I am looking for almost every time I open it. its a bit buggy at times when "pointing and shooting" but a simple switch to manual mode usually fixes it for the moment.. but from what I gather this app exists because of a few folks keeping it alive when they have extra time/ want to do it on their own time. and if thats true, im grateful for whomever is keeping this alive. kudos 👏 Edited

I found Sky Map to be great for a quick and simple verification of planets and constellations. I've used it successful for years and just accessed it a couple of weeks ago with no problems. Now I get a window that states "Unfortunately, Sky Map has stopped". I hope this is a temporary condition and that it becomes active again.
