Update: I subscribed for the ability to import multiple pages from pdf. Really nice feature and the score files are smaller which my crowded phone is happy with! What I wrote earlier: I'm using the free version and have had great success snapping photos of sheet music and playing it back. I'm using it to help me learn new piano pieces by isolating one hand or the other to listen as I read the music. Will probably subscribe to full version. Edited

if the note is a sixteenth note or has any double bar lines forget it. took a million pictures of a million different lightings and angles (with a brand new phone with a very HD camera) and it would either say "no music found" or play the wrong thing. not worth your time! no problems with the picture, full page, normal font, studio lighting. If this phone is giving poor results the reason is something to do with the image. Note that PlayScore does not support small hymn books or music printed in a novelty font intended to look handwritten. If you would like help please email [email protected]

I was very interested in this app at first, but it doesn't even offer a trial period. It immediately wants to make you purchase a subscription without even knowing if it does what it claims. I wanted to see what it would do when I imported my own PDF sheet music. Not allowed. What a waste of time. Response: Sending off a PDF is not the same as testing it myself. I OWN PlayScore Pro and have been mostly pleased with that app, but would have loved the added PDF option. Considering this is not a purchase app but only subscription makes it not worth the change. You can test recognition using the camera. We don't offer a free trial because many people want PlayScore 2 for a single job. But feel free to send us a pdf an we will send you a playing score you can play in the free app. Thanks [email protected]

I scanned and had it try to play the Life on Mars piano arrangement by Benedict Westenra. The scanning can be a bit tricky, but when it works it's amazing. That said, the app missed most of the sharps and even some flats and skipped the repeat, even though play repeats was enabled. It also ignored the D.S. al Coda and it can't scan multiple pages as a set to play. Overall, I'm really amazed by the tech and encourage the developer to continue to improve it. It'll be worth buying once improved.

If you need to pay to use the only worthwhile functionality of the app, dont waste peoples time by masquerading as a "free" app. just make it paid off the get go like the other apps at that point. edit: the developer comment on here isnt true, at least for what i experienced with the app. i tried to use my camera to take a picture of sheet music and it prompted me to subscribe in order to use that feature.
