Many excellent features. Unfortunately it lacks one essential: there is no phonetic translation. This means, if you cannot read Yiddish text you have to rely entirely on the speaker. It is very easy to mis-hear: M and N can sound identical for instance. In longer phrases it is very hard to work out where one word ends and the next begins. You end up learning like a mynah bird with just sounds and no clear sense of what the words mean. I have now found sites which do provide phonetic Yiddish.

Hi David Benson, please note that phonetic text is available for each of the 10,000 instructional phrases in the Yiddish course. Please be sure to tap the "tA" label in the upper right of the audio lessons (and relevant quizzes), which toggles the phonetic text on/off.

Might or might not be useful for learning Yiddish, but the background image they chose -- visible the entire time you're listening to the lesson -- features a prominent Christian statue and cross. Such a bizarre and offensive choice, I deleted the app. If you change it, you might choose to enlarge the Hebrew translations, as well. Why make the text so tiny?

Hi Liza, following our email correspondence, I was able to locate the image that you referred to, and as I wrote by email, the statue is of a woman holding a sword (not a cross). UPDATE: The photograph is of the Warsaw Mermaid (Syrenka na Starowce) in the Old Town Market Place, Warsaw. Anybody who doubts can look it up on Wikipedia.

still not worth it; everything except the core lessons are behind a paywall, and the premium seems way too expensive! yet again, the 10k+ downloads but not a single review is way too sus.

Was extremely challenging hearing the consonants and vowels being said. Word yes- I couldn't make it out what was being said.
