Wish this review was good... however one problem just turns to another. now you have to pay extra just not to have ads, and if you have the basic subscription the ads are easily 3 times louder than the show, damn near blew out the speakers on my home theater. and the longer you watch, the more ads pop up. after awhile it makes your show unwatchable. andddd they just keep raising subscription costs just like every other streaming app. so embarrassing the way the entertainment industry is going... Still closes in the middle of shows and not able to stream shows or movies. they responded to my post with the same BS you can find on their website to troubleshoot. Did all the steps and still is $H1T. (update05/14/25) Problem after problem. you can't play your downloaded items without internet, you are constantly restarting the app, constantly unable to play video or content not "available" at that time. HBO Max has great content. However, the app leaves a lot to be desired. The biggest issue is when it plays content, it hijacks the device brightness setting and it's blasted way up. Why? why doesn't it just mirror the device like everything else? The menus are the same as the device. Some people don't like the content super bright. Just let us choose!!! If I wanted it bright, I would set my device brightness higher. I can't believe nobody is complaining about this..

Absolutely love it! only thing I will say is they need to make it so that when you look at your subscription set up, it does a "Next payment due x/y/z".. I'm literally trying to write down all of my monthly bills and their dates and between the app, the emails, Google, billing history in the app or in my cards app..I canNOT simply find the exact date we have to pay it. is it just me?? the billing history is wrong and won't show any of the recent transactions,and it won't just tell me the date!😫

Worst search function of any app out there. if searching for a sports event, one would think the app would default to the most recent event instead of events from previous years. Another thing might be formatting the text to fit in the description box so I can figure out which event I'm looking at. These really seem like easy fixes.
