Woodpecker lets me touch any word in the subtitles to look it up. I watch videos in Chinese, Spanish, and French. Love that I can find quality channels for each language right in the app, all with accurate subtitles. Just what I needed for my advanced Spanish and Chinese. Not really built for beginners, it's perfect for intermediate learners and above. Loads of English language content for English learners to really improve their understanding while watching videos meant for native speakers. Edited

It does not support videos saved on the phone without the Internet. We want to learn from videos stored on the phone with the subtitle. Please make it support playing videos with the subtitle that are on the phone and were downloaded from the Internet. Edited

Thanks for your review and trying out the app! At this time, the app requires an internet connection to access Youtube content. This means you have access to thousands of videos meant for native speakers. We do not have development plans to add downloaded content to the app at this time.

I have been using your app to enhance my language proficiency for a while .indeed a great app. but there are some channels whose videos are not up to date there are few have come to my view .there are no recent videos of those channels on the app but on YouTube, it's an active channel. hope you will try and rectify the issue. make those videos available on the app as well.

I've been using woodpecker for almost a year and it was a great help i appreciated that but it suddenly stopped showing videos by saying that i have to "sign in". But sing in where?! There's no more information. Does it stopped working generally or it's just mine?! Edited

Hello - The "sign in" bug is happening for some users. You can try opening the Youtube app on your device then come back to Woodpecker to fix it. thank you for your support! please email

Even thogh there are some glithes, like when you change the position of your phone, the app jumps to another location of the text and speaking, the video speed is not ideal, overall is an excellent app to learn english. If you want to practice shadowing, it is the almost perfect app.
