Used to be the best podcast app. It was free, no ads, simple, lightweight. It's none of those things anymore. Every update makes it worse. Constant spamming to make a purchase every single time app is opened. Automatically opened some VERY suspicious looking ads in my browser window when I wasn't even touching my phone. That one was absolutely the last straw for me. Done with this app for good. Should have dropped it long ago Edited

UPDATE: Since the July 2025 update, the player no longer holds my place in a podcast. If I have to pause halfway through and come back to it later, it restarts at the beginning of the episode. I have to look at the timestamp when I pause so I can find my place later when I resume listening. I really like the way I can manage the podcasts I listen to, as well as the customizations. Edited

I have a similar experience to other users recently with random garbled content playing followed by an unprompted stop of the offline podcast playback. It is so annoying that I've updated my 4 star review from 2021 to 1 star. I'm very disappointed and will look for other app options. Good selection of content, though there are podcasts I would like to see added - in lieu of fun, for example. Simple to use generally, new interface took some time to find where controls were moved to. Edited

I've been using the free version for years with only minor issues, but recently it started pausing every time the ad at the top refreshes & playing 2-3 seconds of really fast talking (like at the end of some ads, only sped up so much I can't understand it). I have to unlock my phone and manually restart. It's super random, sometimes multiple times in a minute, other times I get maybe 10-15 minutes. Sent a message, no reply yet. Might be time to find a new app. 🫤

Don't know if this is subject to the free version .... the audio stops at various times, the sound resembles someone's fast forwarding audio. This requires the play button to be repeatedly pushed during playback. 30 minute podcast, 6 times at least. There is no set time, 1 minute, 5 minutes it varies. I have Pixel 7pro, cleared the cache, even rebooted and made this the first used app and the problem still exists.
