New app is much easier to navigate. You can actually manage downloads now. And the team quickly to my user feedback and moved the live feed back up front. New issue, the episode selection menu on Android TV doesn't show the episode title when you first select a show (the playing video pushes the episode selection menu down on the page). You have to move down the page and back up to actually read the episode titles. Edited

App makes an annoying noise announcing your local PBS affiliate station whenever you start it. It then immediately autoplays something. It also autoplays after an episode. There is no way to turn off autoplay. You would think an app targeted at kids would have a way to disable autoplay. It's too easy to leave the app. If you do leave the app, it does not remember what you were watching last. No way to filter which shows are available. Content "expires" after a certain amount of time.

Update 2.2025 review: It's easy to find shows, but son likes consistency and refuses to use. It continuously auto-plays from the start of a random episode. Right now trying to download episodes, it keeps repeating the intro of Lyla when I hit back. Two biggest issues, 1. it doesn't show how long the download is good for. Episodes just disappear randomly. 2. The Live TV feature gets stuck in loading or freezes, mostly on the smart TV app, but frequently in 2 separate Android devices also. Edited

Still missing the old version of the app 😔 The new one is not easy to navigate. Doesn't list show titles anymore, just a side scrolling parade of small icons. Dislike there's no option to disable autoplay. There's short 3min clips mixed in with full length episodes, & kids don't need shorter attention spans. New episodes were added, but just mixed into the others instead of being at the top of the list or labelled as new (eg, Carl the Collector). I love having these shows for kids, but dang...

This app was excellent before the recent overhaul. The UI is not easy to navigate. Show titles are not in the same frame as the image tile for the shows. The menu is not easy to access on a mobile device, requiring more navigation and clicks. Downloaded shows don't play when offline. There are other issues, but these are the main ones. It's time for a rollback. The previous app had solid design and functioned properly. As a previous rater stated, newer is not better in this case.
