This is the best, free, daily check-in app available. Perfect for functional adults living alone. It also, according to my research, is the best available in terms of maintaining personal privacy. Minimum amount of tracking and access to data and only for app functionality. Everything else available is either not very transparent with how data is shared or collects more data than is necessary. While I wish there was a way to turn off the quotes in settings, their GUI is simple and pleasant.

This works great for people who live alone. I recommend that you set your check-in time for an hour or two after you normally wake-up. It gives you time to check in in case you get busy and forget (like I do) and don't always have your phone near to get reminders. Also put the app on another device (computer/tablet) in case you misplace your phone (or a cat is laying on it).

Note: I use the paid version. Fortunately I've yet to be in real need of their services. However, the times I've not signed it (forgot, overslept), they've responded quickly and efficiently. Helps that my contacts are the same way. This app gives me total peace of mind as I live alone with pets and used to worry about them if something should happen to me. Not anymore!

It would be great if there was more than one text/push reminder that I'm about to miss check-in. If I got a 15-30 min warning, then a 5 minute warning, then a check-in now warning, that would be great. As it stands now, if I leave my phone in the kitchen and go to the bathroom, I can miss the single last minute notification and my family gets an alert. It's starting to annoy my family and creates a "crying wolf" effect which diminishes the helpfulness of this app. Edited

I posted this review several years ago - snug would not install on a new pixel 7 pro. the same thing happened when trying to install it on a new pixel 10 pro. trying to install, it hangs on the screen requesting location permission. I granted permission but it would only go back to the same screen asking me to do it again. infinite loop. pretty lame for safety app. Edited
