The mechanics are solid and so are the AI. A strong negative would be the lack of a fleshed out tutorial system or challenges that teach strategy, but this game doesn't claim to be a guide or anything. Still, a bit of a more in-depth introduction would be welcome considering the learning curve is noteworthy. It's a relaxing game nonetheless, at least until the AI takes a dump on your strategy. Then I wallow in my lack of actual skill lol

Most excellent mobile Go game, with great tutorials for beginners and designed to meet a players needs for many levels beyond. Very well thought out. I would love to see a specific Ladders training section, as this is fundamental to learning Go. I haven't yet found any such training within an app. All that said, Go Pro is ahead of the competition! Love it * Territory visualization is super useful for learning * Undo button makes for a nice learning tool – can try out a few different options and see how the AI responds, or figure out which move of yours was the critical mistake. A less punishing form of learning. Only frustration (other than losing) is when trying to undo a lot of steps, I accidentally hit "undo to the beginning" really often. Having these buttons just a wee bit further apart would be great.

I have been playing with this app for a decade or more. I'm probably somewhere around 5 kyu. This app used to be decently strong but predictable, but the alphago upgrade made it dramatically stronger, less predictable (at least to me), and better able to teach me where the next promising move might be. Very highly recommended! Annoyingly highly recommended, since as I wish to switch to iPhone, here is one strong reason not to (:

The AI is decent enough; the UI is clean; the app runs well - no bugs in more than a year using. The scoring system, unfortunately, is exclusively automatic. This would be fine, but the scoring system makes frequent errors with sekis between a large unit and a small unit. Always frustrating if a close game could be incorrectly scored due to the AI misdiagnosing seki as death. That said, the app is exclusively offline so this is only ever a real issue against AI, and to that extent, who cares?

Thank you for the feedback. Our Go app currently uses the old inaccurate territory/alive and dead estimation as the much more accurate new system was unstable in the early part of the game. We will implement the more accurate system after the middlegame in a future update.
