I'm not a DJ or a musician and I really thought the app was pretty straightforward and with a little practice I was able to get the hang of mixing and fading songs. So I guess it's possible to pick up using this app with some practice. Now I'm not gonna DJ a party but I would do my own little set my house. The song selection is OK. I mean for a free app it's sufficient for a few hours of music or you tap into your own library or try some online stuff. I'm gonna keep using it and see how it goes.

Honest opinion from a GenXer - YouDJ is the Winamp of DJ apps: Not the best but better than most, fun to use, and has an awesome visualizer. Could use some work on BPM detection. I've had a handful of songs, mostly 70s funk and some disco, where it wasn't able to detect the BPM. And if it's going to have an EXP and ranking system, it would be nice to have a viewable leader board too. Overall a great app. Edited

This is an incredible free app. Lots of functionality. It must have taken a great love of music and a great love of music lovers for the developer to want to make something this great and put it out there for free. It took me a few to figure out auto mix, as I thought the next track wasn't automatically loading, but it actually does once the current track is 90% played... update: One request would be the ability to extend the crossfade duration in auto mix mode - like up to 10 seconds or so Edited

Thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot to me, since I am working on that app for more than 10 years. Have fun :). You can make the automix transition shorter in the settings (if I am not mistaking). Erik the programmer

I Havent tried recording but this IS a great app! SUPER Easy on the battery (5 hrs straight). The auto-sync is right on. Without auto sync has great response. Using this with a UE megaboom speaker and it's a party in your pocket on or offline. I mostly like the deep house collection! Spin with the "eq" on instead of the vinyl record display for best sound control, while eq'ing, sometimes the buttons will jump when sliding two sliders at same time (that could possibly be just the phone, I dunno). This is insane. I just searched "phone dj", and this was at the top, because I was curious if anyone was crazy enough to take on this kind of project. It's extremely easy to use, and I love how I don't need headphones, haha. I have a DVS setup at home with Mixxx, along with a hardware mixer, but for a toy app on a phone, this is outstanding! Party mode is a nice touch. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!
