The app is great for learning languages, and it drills the words in your brain. Although it is annoying to run out of hearts, the app is extremely helpful. You can choose between beginner and intermediate levels, which is great, and the leaderboard motivates you to do more. Also, Duolingo does not have any ads unless you choose one to get a heart. This helps you focus better on the language you are learning. It allows you to reveiw skills in case you forgot and that alone is very helpful.

Used to be a slightly buggy useful app, but these days what was functioning just fine is frustratingly inconsistent (unstable and laggy) and barely worth the trouble. I've been on this app for years, but I'll be moving on if this trend continues. It just gets buggier and worse as time passes. Don't know how much of this is AI, but it's definitely not helping. Also, the obvious cheating is super annoying, and nothing seems to be done about it.

Ever since replacing the employees with AI, my streak freezes have been disappearing. I have on occasion been unable to complete my lessons earlier in the day but I usually do at least one before midnight. For whatever reason, though, the app is convinced I'm not doing them and keeps using up my streak freezes. I reiterate that my streak does not have to be frozen. These things are expensive at 200 gems each, too.

I practiced yesterday but it's saying I used a streak freeze. Each lesson is VERY long and drawn out to the point that it's hard to retain anything. The little indicator doesn't move accurately to give a clear idea of how many sentences are left, but if you count it's about 15 each lesson. The characters roll their eyes or get angry if you translate things properly, which is very discouraging. XP/Gems gained for each lesson or challenge is very low. All the good features are behind a paywall. Edited

I can tell this is AI, dissapointing. It can lack context and explanation, I have to look up why I got something wrong. Some words are super repetitive while other words don't show up often enough. It brings up the Spanish word for apples multiple times almost every single session; I see an opportunity for variety here. I do like that it makes it a game and more accessable. I would rather pay more for a higher quality product made by humans.
