Iron Marines 2 is like an old Real Time Strategy game, but faster-moving. I think of it as a "Real Time Tactical" game. It has elements of a Tower Defense game, but many levels are search-and-destroy, with no towers. the art is great. Different heroes support different tactics. after you beat the game, there are randomized special missions that range from being quite easy to nearly impossible. I've been replaying those missions for years. Edited

Overall a downgrade to the first game honestly. Each level is a new world now but missions feel shorter. Sadly, most maps were recycled across multiple worlds which defeats the purpose of having new worlds for each level. Difficulty scaling across levels is whack. Some levels and side quests are harder than bosses while some boss battles can be cleared with no challenge whatsoever. One of the few things I liked about this game is how the plot tied into the KR world which is neat I guess. Edited

I beat the first iron Marines. Loved it. Just found out the second one was even out! And it's even better than the first. I just adore this game. I mean having to buy the game AND pay for more heroes and different units and such is very lame. But that's the way the it goes I guess. Regardless, extremely fun RTS game with a whole lot of charm. And actually takes thought to beat. The game can be tough! But not in an annoying way. Please make a third Iron Marines!!! <3

An all-around great game with an good gameplay and storyline. I hope for a possible DLC like with Kingdom Rush in the future. The only problem I have with this game is the fact that I apparently have to buy Units in order to look at their entries in the database which doesn't make any sense since I didn't have to do that with Heroes, I can look at their entries without having to buy them, why? I enjoyed the kingdom tower defense games and the first iron Marines, but this title was clumsy and uninspired. Dragging the units around is mechanically difficult, the dialogue is slow and dull, and the signature new feature, vision, is really just a way of forcing you to explore all the upstairs areas before you go downstairs. The game is playable, but I'd rather just replay one of this publisher's classics. 2.5 stars.
