This app is used as part of what appears to be a dishonest business practice, and it contains a risky security bypass demand before it will install. First: I buy a one year electronic subscription. TWICE they have "expired" my subscription before the end of the subscription year. The first time they claimed it was because they bill your credit balance at the current monthly rate, and it had used up my prepaid amount. When I complained they backed off that and grudgingly honored the original commitment. They have again expired my subscription with five months left. No reason given, but they will escalate it to their billing department. On local BBS forums others have complained about the same tricks with annual subscriptions to the print edition. Yes, I understand the newspaper business is in trouble. But you don't get out of trouble by trying to cheat subscribers. Second, this application REQUIRES you let it change any settings it wants in your phone. They claim its so they can modify the screen rotation to portrait. That is highly suspect, since my screen rotation is ALREADY locked in portrait. This subscription and application are now more trouble than they are worth.

Canceling a subscription requires that you must call an automated phone number, where you are transferred to another automated phone number, and then finally be transferred, only during business hours, to an offshore call center that tries to persuade you to stay. The news articles are good, but this subscription setup isnt appropriate. I will not be returning as a customer when this little effort is put into managing customer accounts & experience Edited

This app used to be informative, but now seems to have a bug so it constantly reloads, even overriding my home screen. Uninstalled. No longer worth the trouble. Most worthwhile articles show up on my FaceBook feed without all the hassle.

Complicated to cancel. They got free money from me on Christmas. I thought I'd sent an email with the "Contact Us" box on the website already regarding a refund, then I was put through hoops and holds on the phone to try and cancel. I sent another email and finally I get a response, but the bot that responded said it's too late to give me my money back and that I allegedly made no attempts to contact them DURING the HOLIDAYS. All bots and AI answering, no human. Beyond disappointed, scam service

Really don't like the new app. Hard to read and asks for system permission. Guess I'll just go to the website. edit. still wants system access to rotate screen. seems like they want too much access for a newspaper app. Edited
