It's pretty pointless. In fact, the "Smart" filter is just a gimmick. The app has no idea what the real condition of my filter is. And the reported air quality is from a weather station that is miles from my house. I live near a freeway. So my filter gets dirty pretty fast, but the app doesn't have a clue. Don't waste your money on these filters.

The Smart Air Filters use a sensor that calculates filter life based on air flow and usage by detecting changes in air pressure over time. This requires that data is sent from the sensor to your app via Bluetooth connection - if you want to ensure the most accurate filter life you'll want to ensure that data is updated at least weekly. This app needs to support being able to add all filters. Most of the time the filter I use or want is not available, so we need to be able to add a filter and size. The other thing I don't like is the replacement reminders. I like to see one for 120 days. We all know they recommend 90 day replacement, but know 90 days is just overkill for most homes. I've replaced mine every 120 or more for 30 years without issue.

Complete BS. The app basically just counts the days. Don't bother with this app and DON'T spend the extra money on the BT filters. Filterete filters have shown themselves through multiple tests to filter all they say they do, and with better airflow than most. But this is just a gimmick. Put the filter changes on your calendar and ignore the temptation to get another "smart" thing. Don't waste your money.

Don't install this app. It doesn't do what it says it's supposed to do, and it wants to know where you're at at all times. Returned device. I highly recommend anyone with one of these smart devices to return it as well. Just another data mining app. Setup will not complete unless you give it full access to your phone all the times. Will not pair devices unless it has full access to your phone all the time. Filtrete doesn't need to know what my phone is doing 24/7. Edited

I've used Filtrete filters for many years and was hoping this app would remind me when to change my filter. The notification system is very poor. I remember receiving E-mail notifications when it's time to change the filter, but I've never received a push notification from the app itself on my smartphone. I also hope that the developers adjust the app that you can edit the date when the filter is installed. Finally, it would be helpful if the app knew where to buy smart filters.
