very glitchy, sadly. I love the crosswords, glitches keep ruining my streaks. I will complete it, the "completed" screen will come up, but when I close the puzzle it won't register as completed. for older puzzles this is just an annoyance, as resetting the puzzle fixes it. however, with the current day's crossword, it almost always ruins my gold solve streak. also, when I last updated the app, it turned every other puzzle from last month (6/2025) blue, decimating my streak again

The puzzles are enjoyable but the problem is the timing of the mini crossword puzzle. All too often it is locked and showing it's for the next day even though we've not played the current day's puzzle. Initially we thought maybe it was tied to a specific time of day that it would update independent of the actual day, but that theory has been proven wrong as some days it stays on the current day's puzzle until late in the evening and other days it has already changed by noon.

This is a great way to exercise the mind. However, I have found there are many days where the words are truly obscure, and/or it boils down to luck. I dislike that aspect because instead of being rewarded for your diverse vocabulary, you're scored based entirely on luck. On top of that, some of the words are just totally out there, and it comes down to a guessing game. It makes the daily challenge, well, unenjoyable. Other than that, it *can* be a really fun daily puzzle. Edited

UPDATE: I am being given the runaround. App developer told me to contact NYT support. NYT support told me to contact google. Google told me to contact the app developers. I paid to renew my subscription on 6/25 through google play. The app shows that I am not a paid subscriber. I have cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled. I have done everything. No one is helping. Edited

The games are good, but there's so much more that could be done with this app. Mainly, there's been a known issue where Mini Crossword times aren't displayed properly if you or any of your friends got the same time (totally locks you out of the leaderboard for that day.) This issue doesn't exist for iPhone, only Android, and it's been known for longer than 4 months based on their response to me when I reported this bug 4 months ago.
