This app is pretty entertaing and helps to practice and learn new vocabulary. I think the mix of english instructions and japanese vocab works especially well for me. You do have to pay $4.99 if you want all of the levels (there's a lot) but it does give you a good ammount of them in the free version. My one wish is that there would be a way to search through or organize your vocab in the "words found" section. That way it's easier to review and look up vocabulary that you use in the game.

Great app. However, I've noticed when some words that use a mixture of katakana and hiragana, it can cause some confusion and more importantly it also seemed to confused the developer. One puzzle you need to spell out tonkatsu but the default options are in hiragana however, due to the mixed use of kana, the last character only has the option to use katakana. Ive only played a few puzzles and this could be a one off issue but something like this can be confusing especially for beginners.

Excellent app, been dreading reopening Anki for a long time after passing N2, but this app makes kanji and vocab study fun. I have two suggestions: adding pitch accent graphs to words. Having audio is great, but being able to visualize it helps me a lot. Also, Japanese definitions and example sentences would be awesome. I try to go monolingual when possible. Being able to export to Anki would be great, but I think Renshu has its own alternative to Anki so they probably aren't into that idea.

Fun app. I've been using it to keep me on my toes with JLPT vocabulary. I'd give it five stars if there were an option to play randomly generated crosswords. I bought the full version and I do think it's worth it. EDIT: Changed to five stars because of the developer's timely support with my issues over email. Although I'd still love randomized puzzles, I can't neglect good support. Edited

This is a very good app to casually practice Japanese at your own level and pace. The issue about erasing entire words isn't as annoying as other reviewers have made it to be - and they apparently just fixed it. My favourite feature is that the list of vocab keeps growing with each new puzzle you solve, so you can easily review the words you already learned. I also like the distinct hiragana and kanji sections. Too easy to guess words with the kanjis only. Great app!
