This is a really great game. I love the style and the vast amount of choices available. Once in awhile you swipe the wrong choice by accident. It might be a good idea to add a "this was your choice are you sure" or a go back one choice button (perhaps with a limit so you are not tempted to go back for every choice ;) ). But this minor inconvenience did not spoil this game.

One of the more difficult hosted games released to play vanilla. Of the three books I think this game is the most balanced in terms of the viable play styles and has the best character development. The game's main story is linear, with the "side quests" adding flavor to the play style you chose for your character. Choices are basically stat checks, with successes being rewarding and failures punishing. In a sense this game is "immersive", you are not a god/goddess amongst men. You have more weaknesses than strengths, which makes your choices VERY important. Even if you pour all your effort into one stat, that stat won't be used in every situation, and if you spread your stats out too much you won't be strong enough to pull through when you need a higher stat. The charm of this game is the difficulty, the struggle is part of this game. You could say this is the "dark souls" of interactive novels, when victory is based on intimate knowledge of the game rather than luck. The legacy dlc is highkey pay2win, adding mostly to stat boosts, and very little to narrative and world building. For those who complain about the difficulty there you go.

Good CYOA. The only complaint could be the way stat checks determine choices, but its more of a system than a detriment. Another could be length, however, because it is the first of three and there is a lot of choices and replayability it's not an issue. I've played both a Good Knight that bonds to Petra and a mostly Evil Bard Wizard who seduces Jess(my fav). I've heard some not so good things about the other two games but the reviews are fine and i already bought them! Excited to continue them Edited

I love this series! I've replayed it at least 10 times and it's my favourite out of any of the Choices games. I have all 3 games and the DLC purchased and I considered all of them more than worth it. The replay value is incredible. I only wish there was some sort of guide, because I really want to get an Enchanted Archer but I'm struggling. The guide I was using (unaffliated) also doesn't include the new DLC so it's hard to get through it. But that's my only complaint and doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of the game itself. If you're not a guides person unlike me, it's perfect! Edited

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. It's REALLY short for starters, and the class system and skill system is really fun but the skillchecks are really arbitrary and difficult to understand. It feels like a lot of your choices don't really have an impact regardless, but at the same time it's really easy to screw up and lose out on something major. I was just confused and frustrated for most of it and I tried playing a few times. Meh. Waste of a few bucks.
