I don't usually rate apps but I noticed that Lichess's user rating is much lower than it deserves. This app is great, totally ad free, a chess app by chess players for chess players. The rating system gives you an ELO quickly so that after a few games you are playing with people of your skill level. There are tons of options to customize the layout of your board and pieces and there is a super helpful engine to explore "best moves" and different openings. This app is freaking awesome. Thanks.

The UI looks more slick that what I assume to be the legacy app, but I can't find the option of importing a PGN anymore. It seems like the app only offers some subset of the original functionality. Personally I care more about features and usability than the UI (otherwise I'd just stick to their commercial competitor). I understand it's still a Beta. Edited

Much more comfortable and pleasing than the non-beta app for me, I love it. One thing I kindly request is if we could get a button to toggle on/off the arrows, in games especially. It's impossible to drag with two fingers without mistakes. Generally I hold one finger on a faraway square and draw arrows with another finger, but I can't count how many times I made the moves mistakenly because it didn't register first finger. Much love 🌸 Edited

Usefull for anyone looking to improve their game. There is a high level of commitment and passion within the community and the overall software is solid. Alas, the UI is messy and leaves much to be desired. There is no beauty in the layout and the presentation is far too rigid. Overall, Lichess is a very useful tool; but the presentation suks.

Lichess is an outstanding app for all chess lovers! It’s clean, ad-free, and packed with features — from online matches to puzzles and study tools. I especially love how smooth and lightweight the interface is, making it one of the best chess platforms out there. However, I have one suggestion/complaint regarding the Over The Board (OTB) mode — currently, there's no option to increase or customize the timer duration. This becomes a bit inconvenient when playing longer casual games with friends
