The paid version is well worth it, smooth play, I like the AI, the piece and board customization is crisp and multiplayer is a welcome change of pace from rated online games. My one complaint is that you cannot offer a draw to a human opponent on online multiplayer. Also, it would be cool if players could be paired based on their ratings against the CPU or if it would at least display CPU rating or wins and losses against human opponents. Edited

This superb app is not just the best chess app out there -- believe me, I've tried over a dozen of them -- it's a major reason why I stay on Android. Nobody is better than AI Factory. The gameplay is a pleasure, with a pleasant environment customizable to a multitude of different appearances including my favorite, a red/amber checkerboard and elegantly simple black and white icon pieces, and allow single, partner, or internet human opponent play. Casual mode is great for learning, with a tutor available to suggest logical or even deeply brilliant moves, as well as to show pieces in danger, allow unlimited "take-it-back" undoing of moves. The CPU can operate at a 1-10 level of difficulty to provide you incrementally more challenging gameplay as you learn. A beautifully designed and marvelous app that's not just a great way to learn the game, but a work of art!

I didn't like the free version of this app. The ads were annoying and would often cause it to crash. The pay version is very nice. It offers many graphics options and sensible AI levels to play. I have beaten up to level 8. But still struggle to beat level 3 consistently. I think this offers me the opportunity to get better through experimentation. Rather then constantly being discouraged by the swift defeats from very difficult AIs.

I love the app, but it would be great if the online multi-player had some kind of maximum time limit between moves. I'm currently in an active game where the opponent could tell he was losing, so he just paused the game and left. I have check mate in 1, but he hasn't made a move in over 12 hours so I can't play it and win. Clearly he's hoping that I'll abandon the game and his loss won't be recorded. Instead I guess I'll just leave it on pause forever, hoping he comes back.

Thank you for your thoughts. Online multiplayer is still developing and we are looking at all suggestions.

Great program, very enjoyable to play! I do have one complaint, however, it concerns that on occasion, about to lose, the program asks permission to resign. There is no rule allowing that, if the program wishes to resign, it should just resign and not ask permission. The request is probably an opportunity for player to prove the win, I realize, but if that is the goal, better to provide the ability to set up a position from scratch and play from there rather than distorting the rules, istm.
