AI has no clue how to play when partner goes Nil - its the highest points aspect and when the AI partner continuously messed up and doesnt play right, there is almost no chance of coming back to win. for $4.99, it needs to be better. also bid nil with a Q of spades when we were over 400 pts, and didnt need much more to close out. its fairly basic skills that it should have. this is a waste. games with ads play A LOT better...i just wish those versions had paid versions - this was one of the few Edited

Thank you for the input. We have worked over the lifetime of the app to create strong AI players, and analysis of years of beta reports show that AI player always has a valid reason for its decision. However creating human-style play in card games and adapting to a variety of human play strategies is not easy so AI is still a work-in-progress.

I love the interface. Best I've seen so far. My only complaint is my partner's poor situational awareness. CPU seems to go out of its way to lose by bags at critical moments, insisting on trying to set the opponent when it will cost us 100 just before winning. Or bidding nil when it's pointlessly risky. I know that contextual play is very hard to program. On the other hand, no smart human would play this way. I've tried all of the five star bots and a number of different settings on risk level. Well, playing this a lot, I have learned a bit about the patterns AI use. Sufficient to assume that both of your opponents can see your cards, but also know your partner can't. Secondly, your opponents will occasionally go into can't beat mode. Otherwise great time passer. Having Parkinson's, I really appreciate the "undo" button, otherwise I couldn't play it because of hand tremors. I play this constantly, pretty much every day.

Thank you for the feedback. Please be assured that none of the cpu players can see your cards, although they can make deductions as any human Spades player can.

The graphics are great and gameplay is good and I like all the options you can choose for the type of gameplay you want. I did find the game very frustrating as the AI seems to know exactly what cards to play. Opponents also never get bags as they play off just enough to give you the bags and and if you play off to much you will get set. I found the only way to have a chance is turn off Nils and have no bag penalties and my winning percentage went from around 25% to 50% Edited

Thank you for the feedback. Please consider joining the Spades Free beta program via
[email protected] to send direct reports of any suspect cpu play. Almost all reports turn out to be good play but egs of actual bad play help improve the app. We're sorry you've had so many bad hands but cards are shuffled randomly before each hand is dealt.

I do like the game of spades. but I think there is an issue with the AI or the programming of the any partner you play with. No matter what level you are playing. Here is my case in point. This happens all the time. I might trump with a low spade that the high card of the 1st lay down on the person on my right. The player on my follows suit. Now this gets me. My partner will trump my lower card with a higher spade. When they could easily play off that play. What usually happens is the set.
