Absolutely the worst app I have ever used on my phone, and I include Cheetah. The settings page is a joke. There is no Android phone friendly magazine edition. The daily edition seems to be curated by someone whose last job was hidden away in the basement of the British museum. I'm going to try the UK app in the hopes that it's a little better but I have my doubts.

Useful for when my physical copy doesn't show up in the post. But a really annoying thing about this app is the thumbnail that is constantly present at the bottom right of the screen, obscuring the text behind it. There is a gap under the thumbnail, allowing one line of text to be seen, so the full article is readable, but its presence is still annoying. Surely it wouldn't be difficult to have it so you could scroll the text further up beyond this thumbnail . Or just get rid of the thumbnail. Edited

Used to be good but now has a pointless thumbnail of the whole page in the bottom of the screen meaning you can't read the last few lines of each page. and although I download the issues, they disappear in aeroplane mode and the app freezes.

2025-editing this review. I can't believe I maintain a paid subscription for this junk. It barely works. As the papercopy often doesn't arrive I rely on the digital on the weekend. It still barly works. doesn't download or crashes. Terrible. 2023- You wouldn't have thought it would be hard to update a digital version of a relatively small weekly paper... it's a copy and paste job right? I am amazed by the errors, this app manages. Edited

Updated June 24 - unbelievably, this app has got even worse. 90% of the time I can't even open an issue, tapping on it does nothing at all. I love the content but the app is beyond frustrating. Time to stop subscribing. Since the fix a few years ago this has been fine, but now it has started freezing constantly and a random page won't scroll and then the whole thing freezes up. Closing and reopening rarely helps. I end up paying for something I can only read part of.
