Last update screwed up scrolling. Can't seem to figure out why,but it appears maybe the ads are affecting the scroll where it gets jittery and sometimes reverses. The scrolling is so bad, I'm uninstalling the app. Freep has always been my go to news. Not anymore. Low quality loses me. Hey Free Press, fix it and I MAY come back. Probably not though. Too damn frustrating. Edited

This app used to be good but it keeps getting worse all the time. Things like not being able to scroll if you touch the area of an ad are annoying, but now they have gone too far. It's fine that there are some articles for subscribers only... but when they send out a news alert, but you can't view it unless you subscribe, that is too much. Or they send out alerts on stories that were published hours ago. Etc. This app is no longer a useful source for news. Too bad they ruined it.

Tried cancelling over two years. Unsubscribed in the Google Play store. They still charged me. I called them to cancel and ask for a refund. They said they don't give refunds. Promised that they wouldn't charge me again. Charged me last year, again, didn't catch it. Charged me again this year, I did catch it. I've been waiting on my refund for over a month. Don't sign up for any free trails or discounts prices. They will save your credit card and continue to bill you, even if you unsubscribe.

The latest update released on March 2, 2022, Version 6.10, hangs on launch and eventually crashes. Behavior seen on multiple devices and with the same update for many of its companion apps for sister publications. So much for the subscription I had just purchased prior to this update... Even before this update, ads frequently hid or obscured content above, below or otherwise near the ads, necessitating creative scrolling in an attempt to reveal the content.

Signed up for a subscription through the app, and my bank records and Google Play both indicate the transaction went through, but still didn't have subscriber access. Tried emailing them and they said they couldn't find my "Detroit News" account - even though my email asked about the issue with my Detroit Free Press account. Subsequent emails went unanswered. Call center support person couldn't find my account despite apparently checking their systems for several minutes. Unsubscribed.
