Edit: 5 star reduce to 4 stars. Recognition engine really out of date. In this era of AI ocr this poorly compares as clunky and picky having to maneuver the cursor to recognize words. And if target text isn't clear black block character on white background, you are out of luck. 2016: I think this will be useful. I also request ability to ocr chars on left edge and longer passages, like with camera app. Or integrate camera app, such i can take a screenshot and lauch camera app with the screenshot

The on/off of the OCR is troublesome. The positioning of the cursor needs getting use to; felt a bit too precise at times. If a multiple characters term breaks across two lines, I needed to rotate be phone and hope the characters will come together. But, I am loving the app for allowing me to read Chinese articles and news. Please keep up the fantastic work.

Hi and thank you for your review. All good points. I especially like the screen rotation workaround, which I haven't heard of before! The usage does become more natural over time. Line-break support is something we've wanted to add for ages but it's not nearly as easy as it sounds, because the text may be in columns, or the text may be cropped.

The OCR is not very good, I can't get it to recognise some black words on a white background. The whole reason I bought this app was for manhua, which has text in various fonts and backgrounds so it doesn't work for that. It needs another app to work, the dictionary. The free version doesn't have translation ability.

Thank you for your review. This app only works with regular non stylised text, like general text you find on a web page. I'm sorry if the store listing didn't make that clear. Please feel free to contact me for more information or to take advantage of our 30 day refund policy. Kind regards, Mark [email protected]

Marvelous apps translating singular words or common phrases by hovering the popup over those words. Although, there are situation where there is slight difficulty, for examples words at the left edge of the screen or white colored words, nevertheless I really love this apps; and it's worth every cents that I paid for. In conjunction with Han Ping Camera and Dictionary Pro apps, it's the BEST suite of translators on the market for Andriod based mobile phone.

I would like to give even 10 stars if I could. I use WeChat everyday as I currently live in Beijing. Wechat does translate Chinese characters, but does not provide pinyin (at least I didnt find this fubction. Hanping Chinese Popup is the solution I was always looking for. One thing: Is there a feature which could be added that this app always runs even without opening the app? For example in the morning when I open my phone the first time, I would love that this green white hover is directly on my homescreen 😊 Edited

Thank you! Regarding starting Popup on system start, I'll look into this. Meanwhile have you tried using the Quick Settings Tile as a quick way to start/stop Popup?
