As a long-time fan of the series, I had no issue with paying here and there to support these wonderful games (and this is still a fun and quality entry!) : I payed for the games themselves, I payed for the Heroes, and I bought the DLCs. However, selling the TOWERS in a tower defense game in such a way that breaks the formula of every other game in the series feels ill-conceived at best and plain insulting at worst. Imagine paying for access to more cards in solitaire. Edited

Lots of fun. It's a good tower defense game. Audio/voices are cool, music is good. The difficulties are nice. Overall, I like the games from this group. Nothing too big brained here, easy to jump into. I am happy to spend a few dollars on the games for the towers. You can earn the gems for the special weapons easy enough and thru videos, so it is a decent game if you so not want to break the bank. I also like the references to Army of Darkness in some of the dialog in the earlier games.

kingdom Rush games never disappoint me. This is one of the best TD games out there. The characters' designs are awesome, sound effects on point, and the graphics are great. I love that all the mechanics are not super hard to learn. Even a beginner to the Kingdom Rush franchise can learn to play pretty easily. Overall, it's a nice game to play to pass the time and also challenges your brain a little.

Kingdom Rush is one of my favorite series of games, but every new release seems more like freemium game than the last one. That would be okay, except for the fact you have to pay for the game!! In this addition, most heroes are available for $ only. You even have to pay extra real $ to buy defense towers. The game is still fun, but that fun is offset by constant reminder of units you can't have without paying a ridiculous amount of money in total. Edited

Edit: game is okay. Entire campaign should have been included in game price. Just set the price higher next time instead of hiding 5 levels behind a paywall. Doesn't make sense. Edit2: in response to developer, I still believe it makes more sense to charge the appropriate fee for all levels up front, even if it's a higher fee. I'm not talking about special characters or anything, it would have just been nice if all levels were included. Edited
