Have been playing a lot with coworkers and friends recently and it has been a very smooth experience. Only had one hiccup where it wasn't allowing the player to make his turn. This was simply fixed by him restarting his app and pressing resume game and it fixed itself. This could've been because he was swapping between the companion app and other applications on his android device. Really awesome experience all around.

The new companion app for couch co-op is close to great. The flaw here is something that was on the last Gen version. That is the ability to make and STORE your character on your phone via the app. No matter what, when you log in for a new couch game, everyone keeps their previous name, but their avatar and trains always reset! So everyone always defaults to Amelia Everest, with the default trains. Even if you immediately start a new game. This small QoL needs to be corrected ASAP. Maddening

Played two games with friends after buying the main game. The first one stalled at one of the AI's turns. The second one made it to the end, but we couldn't tell who won! I went back to the main app, as instructed by the companion app, and there was no game there! This app is a waste of time, just frustrating 👎 Edited

Quite enjoyable with the Nintendo switch game. One thing I am a bit confused of is why you cannot save a default character and characteristics (colour, train type) in the app and just change if doesn't qualify against other players. Continually selecting the same after a session, both characters and colour, is a time waster. But the app does work well as an companion with the game.
