The frequent pop-up videos overwriting the text I'm reading are extremely annoying to me!! Follow-up: Your response to my being annoyed about frequent pop-up windows covering what I'm reading (and to other reviewers with the same complaint) is to give instructions on how to dismiss/delete it, i.e., by tapping the X in the pop-up window. Well, duh!! You really think we don't know that? That's no solution! The problem is the frequent interruptions caused by these annoying pop-ups! Edited

4/15/24 Been using this app for several years, it's really a mess. I rarely bother to open it anymore because it just keeps getting worse. Loaded with so many ads that reading an article is frustrating. One ad banner on the bottom of the screen, one pop-up video ad running in the left corner (with no x-out) covering half the paragraph. This means barely a paragraph is readable without scrolling, then there are box ads running in between every 3-4 paragraphs. About to give up on this app. Edited

Kim, great news! We've adjusted the size of the video player in articles. Easily move the player anywhere on the screen by tapping the top-left corner and dragging, or close it by tapping on the X at the top-right. We hope you'll let us know how your experience has improved by updating your review.

The break-thru ads are a terrible. I like to read the news quietly, so I never have the sound on. When you click on a story, the photo becomes dark & then when you start to read the article, an ad pops up, but if you scroll past it to the next paragraph, it pops up to cover the story. If I had been at all interested, I would have clicked on it without all the pop up reminders. Please stop.

Andrea, we appreciate your feedback and will pass it along to our product team. To close the video player, just tap on the video to pause and then tap on the X in the top right hand corner to close.

At least with the previous form of this app the article would show fairly quickly. If you read it fast before the top half was covered it wasn't too bad. Now with this new 5.4 version that has been forced on us you can click the article and nothing happens except the click sound. I used to read the CBS app first, then you started covering it with videos and now it barely works at all. Great improvement, you can keep it, I will read NBC. Are you really trying to drive everyone away?

Please improve notifications in Android. I like CBS News content. However, there's an annoying issue on Android phones. If I get a notification from this app, the text I see on my Android phone will be something like: "President Trump calls for...." Then, if I click on the link, it goes to a video, where some event might be in progress, but there's no descriptive headline. I never can find out what the full headline was supposed to be, and I'm not going to watch the video for a few minutes to try to figure it out.
