I've used this program for many years, with varying degrees of success. Back to using it now because :gestures at world at large: and am really annoyed to find that freedom is now sending me push notifications. To get me to use the app. While the app is already running. Even though I have push notifications disabled. Which are exactly the distraction I am using this app to avoid. So here I am, distracted, writing a cranky review. Do better, y'all.

It's cumbersome to get everything set up (took me over 2 hours between my phone and my computer) and also not intuitive for how to manage block lists. 😮‍💨😒😠 BUT once it's set up, it works really well! I REALLY like that I can sync it between my phone and my computer, which is not something that a lot of these types of apps do. The pricing is very reasonable and definitely worth it to me. Edited

Amazing! I LOVE this app for helping me stay on task and focus through my easily distracted, ADHD brain! With how much this app helps me, I feel bad taking a star off, BUT (and Freedom devs, plz hear me out) the Schedule Lock feature could REALLY use a redesign by UX designer IMO. Between the Android app, and the website, there is confusing information on HOW it's supposed to function, and I wasn't sure if I was going to accidentally lock myself out of my Schedules or not. Otherwise it's gr8!

Combined with their desktop app, as a whole package this app is AMAZING. It takes away just enough control to keep me from wasting time doom scrolling or buying stuff I don't need, but when I do get back on task I can take control back. I've been using this app off and on for years now, and it's never failed me. I've never had a session not work, nor have I had a website inexplicably not be blocked by their filters. I love this app so much and dearly hope that it continues for many years to come

You can't just block something. You need to begin a "session" that includes the blocked items. And to begin a "session" you need to purchase a premium membership. The only reason I downloaded the app was because it was recommended as the top free app/site blocker. All these app/site blockers make you set everything up before they mention that you can't use the product until you sign up for some subscription. Wouldn't be nearly as frustrating if they were upfront about it from the beginning.
