This app apparently does not work properly with Google Maps, and after using it to transfer to a new device, there are many reports of the timeline function of Google Maps ceasing to work. There is no fix, except factory resetting the phone and setting the new device up again without smart switch. Google and Samsung both point at each other, and neither seems interested in fixing this issue. Edited

I'm confused. It seems like I can't use some of the normal Google data restore functions like restoring my messages, without using this app. It's never been a problem on other devices. I like the Google solution. Not sure why I would want to put all my messages into a third party app to get them from one android device to another.

I really wish there was a pause function. I spent my morning trying to do a corded transfer and it was in the last few minutes when the battery in one phone ran out. (I don't have a cordless charger.) I wish it just saved as it went, and then since you don't transfer duplicates, if someone has to stop for any reason, they can just end it, retaining what's been transferred so far, and start a new sync to transfer any remaining stuff they couldn't before. Smart Switch fails to back up more than 25,000 photos/videos — with no warning. Files outside default folders (like DCIM) are silently skipped. I spent hours reorganizing files thinking they'd be included, but they weren't. This is unacceptable for modern phones with 512GB+ storage. Samsung should clearly warn users or fix this. It’s not a reliable backup tool for power users or anyone with a large photo library.

the two issues I had with smart switch were the new phone saying the old phone needed updating (it was the other way around) and the bigger issue being that it didn't transfer over any of the messages from Google messages. other than that, the app works fine from what it is, but I wouldn't know if anything other files were missing since there's not a clear indicator which files were unable to be switched over
