It's a below average detective story with magic sprinkled in. CoG has released this precise formula several times on both labels. I think the author had their own idea about how you're supposed to play, so unless you build the stats they like, you might automatically fail a few checks since it'll be options for only those skills. Other books have had ways of handling this within ChoiceScript to make the skills more balanced. Others have tried and failed to balance it. This one didn't try. Edited
