Wow here we are in 2025 and the new update is so bad that my messages usually won't send. If they do it's hours after I actually did. Notifications aren't working. I'm not receiving messages when they're sent but rather in clusters at random times. My Pictures aren't showing up to be able to send anything to anyone. (July 2025) Wish I could give it a zero star!!! It updated overnight and NOW it has a bug that makes it crash the moment you try to open it so it's impossible to use. (may 2023) Edited

Still uses bubbles, annoying but I got used to it. This app is so broken though. Constantly told that messages I receive aren't available in my current app version, despite being fully up to date. They show up eventually but they take a while, which is extremely frustrating. AI features are annoying, I wish there was an option to turn it off, or that they'd get rid of it completely. Messenger needs to go back to the basics. It doesn't need all the extra junk... Edited

I have had to force quit this ridiculous app several times a day, EVERY day, for nearly a week just to send messages, let alone send and listen to voice messages. Sending media? Yeah, it won't even pull up the photos and if it does, the media still may not send. I have written paragraphs, only to have them stuck on sending, having to force quit, and LOSING THAT ENTIRE REPLY. Fix. This. NOW.

Newest update broke the app. When I open up my pictures it's just completely black, I have to force stop and restart the app several times to be able to send images. When I receive photos and videos from others I can't see them outside of the preview/thumbnail. Outgoing messages won't send and will sometimes disappear when I exit the chat window only to reappear at random. This used to be a reliable messaging app but seems like AI is more important than actual communication

Only three stars because if I'm on a call with a friend and such and play roblox the call will automatically be set to a fixed volume and won't be able to turn up or down. And every time its set all the way up. I havent had any problems with messengers messaging system. only the call portion.
