Since the last update in January 2025, the app has lost functionality. While it still works for phone calls, text messages are no longer shown on the GPS screen. This was a feature that I used quite a bit during my work day. Now I have to look at my phone to see if I missed any text messages instead of having them pop up on my screen which is a major letdown. Hopefully they will fix this soon. Also Foursquare Swarm functionality is lost. Edited

The older version is better. You can no longer fully control your smart notifications and the ones you can control are useless. Updated - Still not working software February 2025. Smart notifications now does not work at all! Just fix the Smart notifications portion, nobody uses the ability to answer their phone through your Garmin Drivesmart! Edited

To make a very long story short - stay as far away from this app as possible.... when and if it works, it's only after dozens of attempts to get the app started, connected to the GPS, and bluetooth connection.... just about every time try to use it.... I have literally wasted hours of time..... all of the Garmin units I have are headed to the dump.....

Text messages and don't pop up on screen anymore and also the weather overlay hasn't been working for a few years which was very helpful instead of using phone while driving. When I click on weather it's says something about check service details. At least rerouting still works but definitely lost some good useful tools.

Works well as far as it's been used with the Dezl 780 primarily for traffic. Wish it could auto connect with any registered phone in range instead of having to manually change phone connections; auto reconnection to same paired phone is seamless. Traffic reports are generally accurate & quick to update, but will occasionally misread lane closures/construction as a full road closure & try to route around which is unnecessary. Considering the cost of these units, I think "advanced weather" functionality should be free like it is on Rand McNally devices; basic weather reports accurately anyhow. Most irritating is the constant "access permission" request notification on every device connection event & multiple times thereafter if you don't connect. I don't pair my phone through unit so have no need to connect to phone contacts. Edited
