For me, I think it's Not half as good as the now discontinued Samsung Messaging (for texts). Features are harder to find, the Samsung program seemed more accommodating, and the dang thing doesn't even have the feature of having its own Notification tone. It's the notication in your phone but for your e-mail as well. So when you hear the Notification sound, you have to check to see if you received a text, or an e-mail. The pre-scheduling feature isn't as good either. I'm just not a fan of it.

Google has updated the image attachment UI to be a buggy, unreliable, slower, and generally harder to use system of menus and swiping that has been infuriating me every day. I have to force close messages and re-open to attach images about 1/5 tries now. It's just embarassing. The UX people should be fired and replaced by chatbots of higher competency. Updating my review from 2 -> 1. After a reinstall and a month, the image attachment gallery still bounces in the middle of the screen. Shameful. Edited

Hi there. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall the Messages app itself? Open the Play Store app > search Messages app > Uninstall > Reinstall/Update.

The de facto text messaging app for any Android user of this day. No ads. No in-app purchases. No watermarks. Runs cleanly and smoothly with little issue. Helps you to get the messages you need from those you need in your life. Helps for those in their life to get their messages from you when they need to. Just not the most privacy-focused so always remember that when using it.

Mostly, Google RCS Messages works well on my Samsung. However, as of yesterday, I started to receive messages in which the image or video someone sends won't load. I tried multiple fixes. I still can't access the video or the images. If I uninstall/reinstall, I am concerned I will lose messages, though I believe they are stored as data on the phone.

Disappointed with Google messages but prior app is no longer avail. In July '25 new issue where about 1/4 of photos I get won't download. Inconsistent notifications. Low limit on pinned messages. (Around 30 on Samsung Messages & now 10 on Google.) I also have to either delete ALL messages in a thread or click every individual message I want to delete. Usually, I would select all, quickly scroll & uncheck a few to keep, and delete the rest. Now, it takes forever without a "select all" option. Edited
