After OS update, this little jewel started randomly calling 911. It's happened 4 times today. After the 1st, it got stuck in a 10 minute reboot loop. I thought my phone was broken and reached out to my boss. Happy New Year! I can't access anything. The 2nd time, it froze the phone and I had to power it down. Now it's happened again at 1AM. UNACCEPTABLE. Also? if I was in actual trouble and needed a discreet way to notify someone, a shrill alarm sure isn't going to do me any favors.

App update disables car crash detection on devices where the app was side loaded and previously worked. I was in an accident and the app immediately alerted that it was preparing to call emergency services. To outright disable a feature that worked on my device, an app that has the potential to save lives, just because it wasn't a Pixel phone and mark it as "incompatible" is outrageous.

My phone will literally call 911 on its own now, multiple times a day and in the middle of the night, even when the phone is laying still not being used. This is a serious problem. The issue is that if you press the power button 5 times fast, it will call 911. Any hardware issue with the battery, boot loop bug, or sticky power button will trigger this. Factory reset does not resolve it either. This app (which cannot be uninstalled) turned an inconvenient issue with my phone hardware into an absolutely unacceptable phone-breaking issue that ties up dispatch resources. Real-world consequences for this terrible app.

Not showing up on pixel 3. Even after following the steps above that say the icon might be hidden it's not working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled (or updated as it says in the play store) multiple times and still nothing. I want to like this app but if I can't even open it how am I supposed to try it? Now it's just using up resources and taking up space for no reason and with no use. Also, the developer contact email is no longer watched. Edited

Thanks for your feedback! Even if the app is installed, the app icon may be hidden on Pixel 1, 2, 3, or 3a devices until added via Settings. Please follow our guide at g.co/pixel/addsafetyapp to add the app. If that doesn't fix the issue, please contact Pixel Support. - Michael, Product Manager, Personal Safety

Should have been engineered independently from Google Maps. Requiring location all the time makes sense in app itself, but requiring it *in the Maps app* is overreach. (It's also not a good look - by tying it to personal safety, it feels like extortion. And "Can't share your location" in giant letters *in a warning in a personal safety app* probably gets almost *everyone* to turn it on - without closely reading the fine print that it affects emergency contacts only).
