I am currently traveling. Yesterday afternoon I went to VRBO to book an change of area for today. Searched for (what I thought was) the next night. Showed up to the hotel today, only to find out I booked (nonrefundable) for July 5, 2026. The app knows I am traveling now. I have several locations booked through the app. NOW I know I have to check the year, but not having been burned before, I had no reason to assume the algorithm would kick me to NEXT Year.

Every time someone sends me a link, I cant view it as a URL. It forces the app to open instead, then forces a sign in, and then doesn't show the home I was sent in the link. Even when the app is launched and I am signed in, the URL still never shows. It just opens the app to the home page. Worst user experience on an app and so frustrating. After 6 attempts I don't care anymore.

I was skeptical of this app already being like air bnb and having problems and hidden fees and I've already had so many issues, and I haven't even checked into my place yet. I booked my place because it showed to be the cheapest option versus hotels. I shouldn't have bothered. Too much of a hassle just to find a place to sleep for the night. Will be sticking with hotels next time.

On a recent trip to Seoul, 3 of the 4 properties I booked were canceled. The last property was canceled less than 24 hours in advance of the stay, so Vrbo's customer service offered to cover my replacement reservation up to a certain amount. However, due to the last minute situation I still ended up paying much more than I expected. Also, the terms of the offer are pretty strict so who knows if my claim will be accepted. I can't recommend Vrbo at all and I'll definitely avoid them going forward.

Too many areas of this app was not thoughtfully planned out. when you have a customer svc. issue, you're forced to deal with an automated chat feature that doesn't fully address all concerns. This is aside from hunting down a phone # via google search. Additionally, vrbo sometimes lag in refunding your funds after a cancelation transaction. Another really odd incident was I opted to contact a host to inquire on distance btwn home & another point & a reservation & pymt plan was innitiated?
