The app has a tendency to time out before successfully polling all the devices. If you reinstall the app you lose the customised names, set the names directly on the devices rather than use the app. The devices themselves are best reset to factory settings first, then have their firmware updated before you install them. Always install the non-wireless devices first and let them settle for an hour or so before adding the wireless devices. Be systematic. Edited

The android app consistently fails to display 2 of the 4 Powerline devices on my network. Yet, when you tap one of the devices and look at data rate, it shows all four devices in the list. The android app doesn't show much information such as device type or firmware details. There are no diagnostics. It's very slow and frequently doesn't work.

This evening my internet just went dark, while everything was online. After plugging and unplugging all 3 Tapo devices it worked again. Very frustrating, because the app wasn't showing any reason/error and the in-app reset wasn't working. Even if I was able to see all 3 devices online, I couldn't access any of them and my connection was without internet access even if the rest of the network was fine. Something is wrong with these devices and there's no way to diagnose anything. cannot update.

still useless, outdated garbage that just doesn't work. Even though my WiFi states the default TPlink extender is the connection this app can't even recognise it's own kit! This means,I can't set the device up to connect to the network it's supposed to extend! Lol Edited

Documentation online and within the device manuals are very limited. Advertised as 'plug in and go' but I have sunk hours into trying to get a simple power line network up and running. After buying a new router and additional power line adapter to try and get a Mesh wireless network (in the hope this would help) I still have a network that will randomly drop connection. The app is no help as devices will appear and disappear from the list, almost at random. No real trouble shooting or help.
