*Edit for Nav's response- You're shooting yourselves in the foot. The app is COMPLETELY useless now without a subscription. You're going to lose new customers that don't know what the app CAN do, you'll lose old customers like me that will not pay $50. I used to upgrade just for satellite view. At least give the Government contours in the free version. Been using Nav for close to 15 years but I don't need it in the boat. I have a graph. DNR website has lake depth maps to replace what yours does. Edited

With the Boating app release 20.0, new changes have been introduced to the app and now only active subscriptions have the right to download updated chart details and use advanced features. Used to have old maps for life. They have now changed the TOS after the fact and now you no longer have access to maps previously purchased after the subscription ends. STAY AWAY! Completely unacceptable behavior. I'll be sure to steer clear of all Garmin products (smart watches, etc.) in the future as a contract is no longer a contract.

The Boating app has offered yearly subscriptions to charts, updates, and advanced features since 2014. Old chart information downloaded in your app for discontinued products or non-auto renewable expired subscriptions remain available to you unless you login with a different account, uninstall the app, or install the app on a different/new device.

The app has bugs. I prefer the heading to be up at all times. Default is north up. no matter how many times i go in to the map settings and change it to Heading Up, it ALWAYS reverts back to North up. This is a major annoyance and needs to be fixed. Response to your response.. what is the point in having an option for heading up if literally 30 seconds after changing it, it goes back to north up. just dont have the option if you're not able to change it in the software Edited

The map orientation defaults to North Up by design. To change the orientation, use the following link. https://tinyurl.com/59k9nnpt We recommend using the plus/minus option when zooming in/out with Head Up selected. Email [email protected] with Android Review in the subject and include your suggestion to have a ticket submitted.

I've had this app for years. I've always paid for the upgraded version. It was an all in one app. I could mark spots on the lakes and rivers, I could also mark spots on land or In creeks for hunting or arrowhead hunting. They took away the satellite imagery on land so now all my waypoints on land is just a brown screen. That's what $50 a year gets ya? It will be my last year. time to find a different gps app

Bing Satellite and Terrain overlay has been removed as these land-specific layers see limited use by our mariners. This allows us to make better use of resources to support other features of value to a larger group of our marine community. Satellite Imagery is available as an overlay, on its own, and with Relief Shading where available.

We use navionics pretty extensively cruising the east coast of the usa and the Bahamas. From a ease of use standpoint this is an easy app to use, route plan, check tide stations etc. its functionality is great. using this app in the bahamas to chart depthhs is useless you will surely be on the ground if you trust it for depth. the newer issues we have noticed is glitching and updates it seems like the new owners dont want to update the information. i would look elsewhere.
