Frustrating Experience – Not Worth the Hassle I wouldn’t recommend Capital Bikeshare. We wasted a good chunk of our one-day trip just trying to find an open station to return the bikes—many were either full or completely closed. When we finally found one and locked the bikes in place, the return didn’t register in the app, causing more confusion. On top of that, two out of the three people in our group had their apps crash mid-ride. We ended up ditching the bikes and using Lime instead.

Awful app. Inaccurate / misleading pricing descriptions with no support. Bikes will "pause" when you go into a store, and then be un-ridable when you come back to un-pause. I bought a day pass, misunderstanding that this would work for the days rides...it did not, and I was charged separately for each ride, all the while the app would say that the ride was included. Wherever you are, there must be other options that will work properly, and not rip you off. Avoid this company if at all possible.

Interface is not simple enough to navigate. It was too difficult to learn how to set up multiple bikes for family members from one device. While we tried to figure it out, the app just kept charging us for the bike we already scanned. We never figured out how to add additional bikes. Then, docking stations were full or not accessible, so it just kept charging us until we found an empty dock to return the bikes to. Took us way off of our route to return the bikes. We missed a scheduled tour.

Great, reliable app. I particularly like that you can toggle the map between displaying available bikes and available parking spaces. The only deficiency is that the businesses shown on the map are not always accurately located (sometimes being on the wrong block) and the suggested bike routes are not always optimal, so using Google Maps is still necessary.

The new update has rendered this app totally unusable. The QR scan functionality doesn't work. I was left stranded when I couldn't unlock a bike, and there was no back-up option to unlock using the keypad. The update also removed the trip planning feature. I can't check for docks near my destination before unlocking a bike. Now, I have to plan my route in a Maps app, then return to the bike app to blindly search in the general area of my destination for a dock. Total design failure.
